The woman behind the blog,

Michelle Filice

Like many women I know, I’m a jack-of-all-trades: I’m a mom, a wife, a daughter, a sister, an aunt…a human. In my professional life, I’m also a writer. I earned my PhD in History in 2014 and worked for a short time as a university instructor. I soon realized that I liked writing and researching more than teaching, and made a career change. Since then, I’ve taken on various writing and editing positions, working mostly in the cultural sector and in public education.

The idea for this blog came to me when I was at a library program with my then 10-month-old. Parents were chatting about their experiences on everything from sleep training to breastfeeding to getting toddlers ready for kindergarten. I wanted to create an online space where parents could have similar discussions. I also wanted to share my own views and opinions, in the hopes that someone might find them useful. A few years later, I launched Mama’s Humble Opinion. My blog provides tips and advice on various parenting related topics.
